Update 5/31 6:30pm

Today at 4:55pm Dylan went home to be with the Lord after his long battle in the hospital. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family members. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to all of you who have joined them in prayer these past weeks and months. Your love and support have meant a great deal to them, as they will continue to in these days ahead. Although they are understandably grieving now, they also rejoice that Dylan is in the presence of the Lord Jesus at this very moment. As the Apostle Paul said, "to depart and be with Christ is far better."

Both a memorial service in North Carolina and a funeral service in Georgia are being planned, and details regarding the arrangements will be posted here on the blog as soon as they become available. Once again, the Shugart family conveys its thanks to all of you.

*Some have asked for Gary and Debbie's address for the purpose of sending cards. It is 2601-112 Garden Hill Dr. Raleigh, NC 27614.

Gary, Debbie and Family,
May the peace and comfort of our great Savior fill you now. May you feel His matchless love for you. How wonderful it is to know that Dylan is in the presence of the Lord. You are in my prayers.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.
Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
Psalm 46:1-2,10

Gary, Debbie, Nanny, and Pawpaw,
Our hearts are with you right now and we continue to pray. We love you and are praising God for coming into Dylan's heart so many years ago so that his mansion was already in place for him to worship God and be by His side.

You are in our thoughts and prayers. We loved Dylan so much, and will miss him greatly. He will always be like a brother to us, and an uncle to our little girl. We are so grateful for the time that we got to know Dylan. May you continue to feel the strength and peace from above. We love you!

Gary, Debbie and family,

Our love and prayers are with you right now. Dylan will be greatly missed. He was loved by so many and such an inspiration through this time of sickness.

Remember that God is our Comforter; He is our Strength in times of need - we pray for comfort and strength for all of you.

Gary and Debbie:

We love you so much. I don't really know what to say, except that God is good and times like these would be unbearable apart from the gospel. The glorious promises of Christ concerning the resurrection of the body, our glorification, and our inheritance never seemed so real until I experienced the death of my mother when I was 17. Again, we love you and we will be here for you.

Gary. Debbie, Jill, Bernard, Jerry and Shelia:

We have you in our hearts and prayers now that Dylan has gone to be with the Lord. We know that he is in the presence of Jesus and all those who have gone on before him.

We also know that we will see him again soon one day.

Psalms 116:15 says "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."

God has prepared a place for him in heaven.

We love you all and pray for God's comfort during this time.

We will dedicate our Homecoming service Sunday in honor of Dylan and the family.

"Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destoyed, we have a building from God an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands." I can only imagine what it will be like, but Dylan now knows! I am thankful to have known him and praise God for his faith and his life. Your precious family will be heavy on our hearts and always in our prayers.

Love you~

Gary, Debbie and Family please know you are all loved and are in our prayers.

Even though we didn't get to know Dylan that closely it is amazing how much impact his life had on so many including us. God truly does work wonders and we just simply can never know how or why certain things happen. But I must say Dylan really brought us, our OMV family, Dylan's family, and families across the country and world so close together with the same thoughts and prayers in mind. We thank the three of you for that amazing power.

Now know that Dylan didn't lose the battle but he won the race and finished first. He is now with his Heavenly Father and we are still trying to get there. We celebrate Dylan's victory but still share the loss of a great person. We must now set our sights on the same goal and fight our own battles.

God will provide all the strength, wisdom, power, and comfort you will all need ongoing. Rest in peace with that knowledge.

We love you all and continue to lift you up in our prayers.

Gary and Debbie,
We are joyful for Dylan but sad in our hearts. It just makes the times that he came over to our house to hang out even sweeter. Please know that you are still in our thoughts and prayers. We love you.

Gary and Debbie,

We are grieving for you now but oh so thankful that Dylan is now at perfect peace with our Lord!! Can only imagine how he feels!! What a testimony he was, along with the two of you during this long difficult illness! Great is His faithfulness! And His grace was so obvious in your lives! We love you and will continue to remember you in the coming days. How we wish we could be there to just hug you all but know that we're there in spirit. How awesome is our spiritual family!!
