Hello all,
Several of us were talking today about the best way to get information concerning Dylan to the most folks in the least amount of time. The answer was this blog. We hope it's helpful to you, and even more so, that your comments will be helpful to Dylan, Gary, and Debbie.
Here's the update for today (4/21): Dylan had a dialysis treatment this morning, but b/c of a high heart rate, the dialysis did not last as long as the doctors would have hoped. As a result there is still some fluid buildup that remains. Doctors also did an endoscopy to check for internal bleeding, but didn't find anything.
The doctors would like to insert a feeding tube for Dylan so that he gets the nutrition he needs and gets rid of the fluid he's retaining, but the real challenge with this will be the discomfort of the tube and keeping it in place. Pray for a solution to this problem.
So far, there's no change today in Dylan's liver function. The doctors said that there could either be a very slow process of healing for the liver, or it could rapidly deteriorate. Of course, we're praying for the former. As of now, the doctors are concerned that Dylan is not healthy enough to undergo a transplant. Let's pray that 1) the liver will heal itself, and 2) that Dylan will begin getting stronger just in case a transplant is needed. A piece of good news is that doctors said that Dylan's kidney looked just fine today.
Other prayer requests: Gary and Debbie (along w/ Dylan) got no sleep last night. They're running on only a few hours sleep in the last 48 hrs. Pray for time to sleep and wisdom to work out a schedule for sleeping and being with Dylan. Gary and Debbie will be trying to make these decisions soon.
We'll post more updates in the future as they become available. Thanks to all of you for your faithful prayers!
Kyle

Hi, Gary, Debbie and Dylan! When James, Samantha and gathered together to pray tonight, we focused on you, Dylan. I've also got the guys I work with praying, along with their families. We're here for you, brother.
Gary and Debbie - I'll encourage you to work out that schedule soon! You really do need to keep yourselves healthy, so how can we help be a part of that? Let us know.
Debbie, I heard you said that God knows you and Gary can handle times such as this. You are right! Stay the course, knowing that Romans 8:28 is true in every step of our lives.
We love you and we are praying for you. We are available when you need us.

Hi Gary, Debbie and Dylan,
Just wanted you to know we are thinking and praying for you all! I know you have lots of family there and that's a good thing to be surrounded by loving ones. We pray you get some time to rest and sleep while we pray for Dylan and put him in the Lord's hands. You can trust Him! As it says in Psalm 5:11-12: "But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield."
We love you, Bobby, Mary and Christine
We are praying for you-that God will be your rest, strength, hope and peace! We love you!~Caroline
Isaiah 40 "LIft your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these, He who brings out the starry hosts one by one and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength not one of them is missing...He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom, He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak...those who hope in the Lord will Renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Dear Dylan, Debbie and Gary,
I have been praying for Dylan's health. God has so wonderously created
our bodies to heal. It is an encouragement to know that God's glory and
our good are so intertwined with His will. We can know that He is in
control and directing every aspect of our lives!
I have also been praying for Debbie and Gary - that God would provide
them with mental, emotional, physical and spiritual strength beyond
their measure - and that He would give them the peace and wisdom to
listen to their own bodies and know when to act and when to rest.
You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. If there is any
other way that I can come along side you, please let me know!
With love and prayers,
Ellie

Hello Gary, Debbie, and Dylan,
Deborah and I want to let you guys know that we love you very much. We have got dear brothers and sisters in Christ praying for you from Wilmington to Belez, Brazil.
It's an awsome thing to be a part of the body of Christ.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:6-7).
We love you guys.
In Christ,
Jamie & Deborah

Soooo, I was doing that quiet time thing this morning and I ran accross a verse that I have read before but never really taken time to pray, ponder, and dig over. So, this time I did. So, I'm reading 2 Corinthians 3 (I'm reading Corinthians 'cause I feel a kinship to them...'cause I'm an idiot most of the time) - anyway, I get to verse 18 where it says that we are being transformed into the same image of the Lord from glory to glory. SO, I asked myself, what does that mean? And, of course, I didn't know, 'cause I'm an idiot. So, I re - read the chapter, prayed, looked at the context - and then also went to my Bible dictionary. I found out that the Hebrew word "Kabod" was used for "glory" in the Old Testament and it meant heavy weight or heavy burden. Well, the light bulb went off and I think what he is telling us is that the trials or heavy burdens are what God uses to transform us to Christ likeness. Well, even so, I wish I could do something to take this cup from you - but it is not mine to take just like it was not mine to give. However, just as you grab hold of and trust the one who has given you this cup ..... we are all grabbing hold and trusting right along with you. This glory to glory is a long hard road..... the cool thing is that He helps us through...... otherwise we'd fail.
Love you guys
praying for you

Dylan:
First we apologize for not having written before now. I guess this blog thing is not that hard after all.
Please know that you and your parents are in our sincere prayers. We love you and miss you at OMV.
And a word from the OMV softball coaches...hurry and get well. We need you cheering us on again.
Let us share a scripture (The Living Bible translation) with you if we may.
"Be strong! Be courageous! Do not be afraid of them! For the Lord your God will be with you. He will neither fail you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6
God bless you.

Gary and Debbie:
Our hearts go out to you both. We love you and are so proud of you for your love and dedication to Dylan. We simply don't know what God's will is in this entire matter. But we do know that He is in control and that later we may all understand.
You are in our prayers always and we ask God to provide you strength and courage to face each day. We really miss you three at OMV.
We would like to share a piece of scripture with the two of you also. This scripture provides HOPE. "But O my soul, don't be discouraged. Don't be upset! Expect God to act! For I know that I shall again have plenty of reason to praise Him for all that he will do. He is my help! He is my God! Psalms 42:11
God bless you both.

Brothers and Sisters of the OMV Family:
As we think of this serious issue with Dylan's health we are reminded of the terrible events of September 11, 2000. That was a heart stimulating and heart seaching time in history.
It caused many prayers to be lifted to God from many parts of the world. Everyone was united in the thought of the loss of human lives. However, the desire for and uplifting of prayers slowly began to fall off. Now many people can't find time to raise these same prayers.
May we not let this happen in regard to the issue of Dylan's health and the needs of his parents Gary and Debbie. We need to keep praying just as scripture teaches us.
From The Living Bible:
"Pray all the time. Ask God for anything in line with the Holy Spirit's wishes. Plead with him, reminding him of your needs, and keep praying earnestly for all Christians everywhere." Ephesians 6:18
God bless us all.
Tim and Lea Pike
